Our horse farm (sold on April 1, 2018) is situated in the dreamy village Klein Vahlberg in Lower-Saxony. It is located between the Elm and the Asse at a distance of only 15 km from the town of Lessing, the town for this district, Wolfenbüttel.

For many generations we worked on arable land and fattened bulls and pigs. There have always been working horses at our farm. My first horse, a pony, was a gift for me – Manfred Langelüddecke – for Christmas in 1956, transported in my father’s car.

After passing my exam to becoming farmer I took over my father’s farm. Some years followed without any horses.

Then my oldest daughter wanted to ride a horse and we bought a pony for her when she was ten, later we bought her a horse, a mare. When she stopped riding, we decided to use that mare for breeding.

That was the time when we grew enthusiastic about breeding horses and got addicted to it. In 1986 we bought our first three-year-old mare (from Oldenburg) “Aloysia I - … The breeder was D. C. This was the starting point for our Oldenburgian breed. We kept all the foals and expanded our collection of breeding mares.

Finally we wanted our horses educated on our farm, therefore we built a riding hall in 1992, a roofed roundpen and an outdoor riding place. The pastures (only daytime) are next to the stables. In addition we built more boxes to accept guest horses. During the following years we had 10 to 14 mares for our breeding purposes.

In the meantime horses from Klein Vahlberg have their homes in the USA, Canada and several other European countries. Most of them were sold by the horse’s sales of Oldenburg. In our neighbourhood we were successful as well. Some customers stayed at our farm. In the future we plan to have four breeding mares in order to get exquisite foals. But who knows?

At our farm we have a nice, active community and are organized into a riding society. In addition we have riding tournaments.

So we did all this because we wanted to develop friendships because of our fondness and love we have for horses. We care for each other, enjoy many things and comfort each other, if necessary.

Thanks to all of you.

Manfred Langelüddecke
